The University at Buffalo health sciences is home to a group of offices dedicated to advancing research, education and clinical innovation. From pioneering clinical studies to optimizing trial development, these offices are committed to shaping the future of health care and health sciences research.

Clinical Research Office (CRO)

The CRO provides administrative oversight for all clinical research activities of the university's faculty members. These activities include regulatory assistance, pharmacy services, IRB protocol development, budget development and contract negotiations.

Institute for Healthcare Informatics (IHI)

The Institute for Healthcare Informatics (IHI) is a secure computing center that holds electronic health record and claims data for the vast majority of the Western New York population. This data repository is available to researchers throughout the Buffalo Translational Consortium at no cost for IRB-approved projects. The IHI is also part of the TriNetX Research Network, allowing researchers to access global data sets.

Office of Clinical Trial Development and Implementation (OCTDI)

The OCTDI was established to provide statistical and data management support, ensuring the highest quality, integrity and rigor of clinical studies at the University at Buffalo. Services include study design, statistical analysis planning, data safety monitoring and management, data quality assurance processes and more!

Office of Interprofessional Practice and Education (OIPE)

The OIPE facilitates effective collaborations among those in the health professions. The focus is on learning teamwork and communication skills among practitioners — including dental medicine, dietetics, law, management, medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, public health and social work — all to provide more effective and higher quality health care.

Office of the Vice President for Health Sciences (OVPHS)

The OVPHS is a hub to coordinate collaborations and research activities among the health sciences schools and provides the administrative support to ensure that large, multidisciplinary endeavors proceed smoothly and cohesively.
