The Beauty of Being Exploratory

Monday, Aug. 4 | 12-1 p.m. |

Being exploratory when starting college does not put you behind. In fact, it provides a space full of possibility. This workshop invites exploratory students to embrace their exploration and the flexibility that comes with not having it all figured out (yet). This is an interactive workshop where participants will explore the value of curiosity and intentional exploration as they begin their academic journey.

Self-Advocacy in College

Thursday, Aug. 7 | 12-1 p.m. |

In high school, teachers, counselors and family often step in when you need help—but in college, the responsibility shifts to you. That can feel overwhelming, but it’s also empowering. This workshop is all about learning how to speak up for yourself and asking for what you need, whether it’s academic support, accommodations, clarification from a professor or help with personal challenges.

We’ll talk about what self-advocacy looks like in college, why it matters and how it’s different from what you might be used to. You’ll walk away with practical tools for communicating confidently, navigating campus systems and knowing when (and how) to reach out for support. You don’t have to have it all figured out—but you do have to speak up, and we’ll help you learn how.

UB Curriculum and PAthways

Monday, Aug. 11 | 12-1 p.m. |

The UB Curriculum isn’t just a list of requirements; it’s a roadmap designed to help students make meaningful connections across disciplines and prepare for a complex world. This virtual workshop introduces students to the UB Curriculum structure, including Pathways classes, and offers strategies for using it to explore interests, complement a major  and shape a purposeful academic journey. Whether you're deciding or still exploring, this session will help you understand how to take ownership of your general education experience at UB.
