Top 10 Places to See at UB

From historic reading rooms to high-tech research spaces, UB has something of interest for everyone. Here are a few of our favorite spots.

  • Baird Point’s columns once graced the facade of Buffalo’s Federal Reserve Bank. Now they tower over Lake LaSalle, a serene 60-acre lake in the middle of North Campus.

  • A handcarved mantelpiece. Antique chandeliers. Custom woodwork from the company that furnished the White House. Harry Potter called: He wants his common room back.

  • All kinds of performances take place in this multidisciplinary arts venue, some of the most dramatic under the CFA lobby’s two-story vaulted skylight.

  • This stately bovid in front of the CFA, a favorite spot for taking photos and leaving messages, was modeled after a beloved original that stood in Buffalo’s historic Central Terminal.

  • UB’s largest solar array, covering more than 24 acres and comprising 16,770 solar panels, is the ideal place to see the university’s climate commitment in action.

  • At any hour of day or night, passersby can observe researchers hard at work creating next-gen nanodevices and other high-tech gizmos in this state-of-the-art cleanroom.

  • No. 7: ‘Megumu Megumi’
    4/19/24

Alumna Harumo Sato’s bold artwork on the ceiling of UB’s One World Café offers a feast for the eyes for diners noshing on dishes from around the globe.

  • From 19th-century asylum to ultramodern home for UB’s architecture school, this national landmark boasts a remarkable history. Its iconic clock tower rings every 15 minutes.

  • The medical school’s six-story, light-filled atrium is a breathtaking sight. If your stomach can take it, it’s even more impressive viewed from one of the connecting bridges five stories up.

  • At 24,000 square feet, this enclosed drone-testing facility outside Crofts Hall is one of the largest in the nation, and will help solidify UB’s leading role in this key 21st-century technology.
