WAMC-FM’s Academic Minute interviews Kenny Joseph, assistant professor of computer science and engineering in the UB School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, who discussed how we can stop fake news from impacting the 2020 election.
In the 2016 election, “a tiny group of people both shared and were exposed to the vast majority of fake news,” he said. “We also found that people who shared and consumed fake news were mostly 50 or older, female and right-leaning. There’s no way we can eliminate fake news, but we can diminish its influence.”
