In an article on LinkedIn, TCIE Executive Director Timothy Leyh reflects on the center's new practice of issuing digital badges in replace of paper certificates for those completing professional education courses. Digital badges afford learners the opportunity to demonstrate, more thoroughly, what they learned.

“An interesting thing happened when issuing our first batch of digital badges last month. Unforeseen benefits to our own organization instantaneously materialized,” he wrote. “While creating the digital badge and prepping for the class, we did not stop to contemplate potential positive ramifications, beyond the obvious marketing boost whenever learners post badges to social channels.”
