An experimental bird flu vaccine just saw success in trial — here’s when it could be used to save poultry

featurd Jonathan Lovell in a report that UB researchers are leading the development of an experimental bird flu vaccine. “We obviously have a lot more work to do, but the results thus far are extremely encouraging,” said Jonathan Lovell, professor of biomedical engineering, who led a study. He added: “Because our vaccine does not require the use of eggs in the manufacturing process — as many influenza vaccines do — it is potentially a faster and more efficient way to protect humans and animals from deadly strains of bird flu.”
