As an academic advisor, Ms. Myers meets with students to discuss academic plans, review Honors experiences and provide campus resources.
I am a proud first-generation college graduate, earning a Sociology B.A. and Philosophy minor from Niagara University in 2014 and a Higher Education Administration Ed.M. from University at Buffalo in 2019. I was an exploratory student for two years during my undergraduate experience. After graduating, I took a few years to explore my career interests. Having trained in and instructed karate for nearly half of my life, I realized I love coaching people and contributing to students’ developmental journeys. That is what led me to UB in 2017! During my time studying here, I was a graduate assistant in Student Engagement and was involved in some programming for the Intercultural and Diversity Center.
I enjoyed my Student Life experiences, but I knew I wanted my professional career to be in academic support. For a few years I worked at private universities in academic coaching and academic advising roles supporting first-generation and low-income college students. In 2024, I returned to UB for the TrACE program where I advised transfer students as they acclimated to the university and assisted them in creating individualized plans aligning with their career and academic interests. Through all this, I have focused on a student-centered approach to advising. My encouragement for you is to make the most of your time at UB while preparing for what’s next!
I am an advocate for suicide prevention and mental health awareness. Outside of work, I often spend time with my family and friends, hiking, watching reality TV (Survivor is my favorite), supporting local businesses, and traveling! My newest adventure is taking dance classes for the first time and living up to being a life-long learner.
